U.S. Soldier Dies In Daring Raid To Stop IS Mass Execution

Further details have been revealed about the US-led raid on a prison in Iraq being run by the terror group, IS.

The US says around 70 hostages were rescued but one American serviceman was wounded and later died of his injuries.

Despite Pentagon denials, questions are now being asked as to whether the raid represents a change of military strategy for US forces, amounting to boots on the ground in Iraq.

The operation took part near the city of Hawija, in the largely Kurdish province of Kirkuk.
