2022 Royal Navy Sports Awards: The winners

The Royal Navy have held their annual sports award event in the Long Room at Lord's Cricket Ground.

Great Britain bobsleigh star Marine Taylor Lawrence won the Sportsman of the Year award â€“ finishing off an incredible few weeks for the athlete who won medals on the opening weekend of the World Cup.

Sportswoman of the Year went to multi-talented indoor rowing champion and athlete Lieutenant Rachel Aldridge.

The Royal Navy rugby league team had already been announced as the Team of the Year but received a shock on the night when it was revealed they had also won the UK Armed Forces Team of the Year award too.

The team's coach, Leading Supply Chain B Buinamassi, won the first-ever Navy Coach of the Year award.

The Young Sportsperson of the Year award went to boxer Able Seaman Britney Walker, who talked in her speech about her desire to win an elite title and turn professional.

Lieutenant Commander Andrew Holley's work with the W Series motorsport competition earned him the Sports Official of the Year.

There were also five Outstanding Sports Contribution awards.
