Army team looking to boost profile of military volleyball
The British Army men's volleyball team are hoping to boost the profile of the sport with a good run in the National Volleyball League Shield competition.
The team recently beat Nottingham Rockets to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament.
As well as the chance to claim silverware on the civilian circuit, the Army are gunning for glory in both the Crown Services Championship and the Inter Services.
Army head coach Warrant Officer Class 2 Alex Menya MBE thinks volleyball, often treated as a minor sport, deserves more love.
He said: "Not in a bad way, but we don't get as much attention as the major sports.
"However, within our own scheme, we are comfortable with where we are at. I think we are not minor in our minds."
The Army's quarter-final match will take place early in January.
