Forces' finest: Army boxers shine at national championships in England and Wales

Two British Army boxers have been impressing at national championships in both England and Wales over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Craftsman Niamh Brookes is into the Welsh final after a fantastic display saw her dispatch former national champion, Three Nations gold medal winner and Commonwealth Games competitor Helen Jones in the semi-final.

She will face Josie Lewis, from Caerau Dragons Boxing Club in Maesteg, in the final on Friday.

Guardsman Joe Louis Wright, also from the Army, lost at the quarter-final stage.

Elsewhere, in the English National Championships, Corporal Terri Stuart was unable to win a national title after final defeat against Ella Thompson, who was number one ranked in the draw.

Stuart took the fight to the GB boxer, but was on the losing side of a split decision.
