The 2025 UK Armed Forces karting season kicked off with a thrilling day of action at the Llandow Circuit in Wales.

It was the perfect start for Royal Air Force racer James Ling, who picked up the first Premier win of the season, finishing under a second ahead of the Army driver George Moret and civilian Jack Twilley in a photo finish.

The RAF's Joshua Milne was the next forces driver to cross the line, meaning he sits third in the military championship, with the Army's Toby Knight unable to start the race due to mechanical issues which came up during the second qualifying heat earlier in the day.

In the first endurance race of the season, British Army kart 7 recovered from a poor qualifying session to win the race despite starting in 28th.

It was a strong RAF contingent following the Army kart to the finish line with racers from RAF Wyton and RAF Benson completing the podium.

The second endurance event had more civilian threats involved, with Monkey Motorsport taking the win and second place before RAF Leeming's kart 23 came in third.

That meant the Leeming drivers won the military race with karts from RAF Marham and the Army near the top of the standings, too.

Action continues with round 2 at the Clay Pigeon Raceway in Dorchester on 24 May.
