Highlights from an amazing weekend for Forces athletes

Army physio Captain Kat Matthews returned to the scene of a horrific training accident last year, which almost cost her life, to win the 2023 Memorial Hermann Ironman Triathlon.   

Her total time was 8 hours 32 minutes 52 seconds and included a phenomenal marathon time of 2 hours 49 minutes 32 seconds. 

In the English ABA Boxing finals in Newcastle, military women came away with three National titles. 

In the under 63 kilos category Army Cpl Terri Stuart beat Michelle Cox by a unanimous decision from the judges. 

The Royal Navy's AB Sophie Colebourn beat Dione Burman by a split judges' decision in the under 66 kilos category. 

In the heavier under 75 kilo category Pte Jerry Lee-Palmer beat Mary Kate Smith also on a split judges' decision. 

The Royal Navy's Petty Officer Scott Jackson refereed the historic national League win for Wrexham as they beat Boreham Wood 3-1 to return to the Football League after 15 years. 

Finally, RAF Flying Officer Carys Williams-Morris starts for Wales in their six nations Rugby tussle with France 

Inter Services Basketball Championships are taking place at the home of Army Basketball, the Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre, where the British Army will host the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force.
