Army shooter Morgan Baker targeting a shot at achieving her Olympic dream in LA 2028

Watch: Army shooter Craftsman Morgan Baker speaks to BFBS Sport about her journey to LA 2028

Army air rifle shooter Craftsman Morgan Baker plans on competing at the highest level, with her sights set on the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

The REME soldier is part of the British Army's Troops to Target programme based in Bisley, and it was through that programme that Cfn Baker has enjoyed a rapid rise through the air rifle rankings.

She gained recognition at a recent international tournament, where she achieved a personal best score against a field full of Olympians.

"Considering last year, I went to the same competition and didn't even make the final, so this year, one I made the final and then two I didn't come out last, so that was good," she said.

"Hitting a personal best, being amongst the big hitters, I was like 'I want to be a part of this, I want to be on that level' and it was just such a surreal experience."

Born in South Africa and now representing Great Britain, Cfn Baker credits her military training in the Army for being able to handle "stressful situations".

She said: "I say to a lot of people that luckily the Army has given us plenty of opportunities of stressful situations and opportunities to be adaptable when things go wrong.

"Especially in a competition, for example, your kit might break, or something might go wrong, you just get over that and I think being a part of the military, it's just prepped you so well for handling that better than most."

Now after gaining valuable experience on the national and international stage, Cfn Baker has now turned her focus onto achieving her Olympic dream.

Her first step towards her goal is to impress the GB selectors to give her a chance to compete at the highest level.

She said: "I would just love to get the British minimum qualifying score, that means they will select me or take me into consideration for World Cups, European Championships and then obviously the next step from there is the Games, so LA 2028 is definitely in my sights."
