Army star Carrie Roberts helps York Valkyrie to first-ever Women's Super League Grand Final win

The Army's Staff Sergeant Carrie Roberts has helped York Valkyrie to their first-ever Women's Rugby League Super League Grand Final.
York Valkyrie clinched the Women's Super League Grand Final at the LNER Stadium with a 16-6 win over Leeds Rhinos, who had three Army players in their ranks, Kyia Glenn, Jenna Greening and Bethan Dainton.
The former England international SSgt Carrie Roberts signed with York Valkyrie in July and has now delivered on the target she set after signing when she told York Valkyrie's website that she was targeting trophies this season.
SSgt Roberts serves in the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (REME) and departed from St Helens earlier this year to focus on her military career after a successful stint at the club, including winning the 2022 Betfred Women's Challenge Cup.
York's victory in front of a record final crowd of 4,547 put the seal on an unbeaten league campaign and also exacted a measure of revenge, having fallen short against the same team last season.
