Royal Navy Rugby League celebrate Challenge Cup victory over Army
The Royal Navy will be taking on the Royal Air Force in the Challenge Cup first round

The Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy have been drawn for an all-military clash in the first round of the 2024 Betfred Challenge Cup.

The two military teams were drawn together off the back of a feisty Inter Services encounter in September, which saw two players sent off in a Navy victory.

Elsewhere, the British Army have been drawn away for their first-round clash against Fryston Warriors.

The first-round ties will be played on the weekend of 13-14 January.

The second-round draw was also announced, with the winner of the RAF v Navy battle going on to play against Thatto Heath Crusaders.

If the Army make it through to round two, they will host reigning National Conference League champions Hunslet ARLFC in Aldershot.

Those ties will be played on the weekend of 27-28 January.

In 2022 the Royal Navy made a historic run when they reached the fourth round of the Challenge Cup.

In 2023, the Navy and the RAF's Challenge Cup ended in round two, while the Army crashed out in the first round.

The Challenge Cup is rugby league's most prestigious competition, having been part of the calendar since 1896.
