Army men win enthralling battle against RAF to take back Inter Service title

Watch: The British Army and the RAF battle for the Inter Service title at Kingsholm Stadium

The British Army men have won the Inter Service rugby title after an enthralling clash against the Royal Air Force at Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester.

The Army gain back the title they lost to the Royal Navy in 2023 and their first Inter Services win since 2022.

Army skipper Peter Austin got the Army off the mark with a try to give the reds a 0-5 lead.

The RAF got a brief taste of leading from the front after Will Lamont’s try and fly-half Jordan Oatley picking up the extras with a conversion, giving them a 7-5 lead.

But the Army responded with firepower from Solodrau Radianirova, who dotted over the line before Owain Davies converted to make it 7-12 before half time.

At the beginning of the second half, spectators witnessed a dominating display by the Army with tries from Alexander Gliksten, Vereimi Qorowale, Senitiki Nayalo, with the RAF gaining a consolation try thanks to Josh McNally.

The Army’s run of tries did not end there, as Matthew Dawson and Ifereimi Boladau sealed the deal for the Army, with Zack Taylor getting one in for the RAF.

The Army will take the Inter Service Trophy back to Aldershot with a 21-45 win against the RAF and Army player Frank Kelly wins Player of the Match.
