The Royal British Legion (RBL) has been announced as this year's chosen charity for the Army v Navy rugby union clash at Twickenham.

The RBL, which provides financial, social and emotional support to members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, veterans and their families, said it was proud to announce that it had been chosen as the Charity of the Day for the 2023 fixture.

The charity said the event was a fantastic opportunity to bring members of the Armed Forces community together, to connect with other former servicemen and women, and to support long-lasting friendships developed during their time in service.

A spokesman for the charity said: "At RBL, we understand the mental and physical health benefits of sport, and we are committed to helping wounded, injured, sick service, ex-service personnel to use activity through their recovery journey.

"Plus, we understand how a little healthy competition on the pitch can help foster friendship between the services off the pitch!

"We wish the teams from both Unions luck and look forward to joining them on the day in a celebration of inter service sport."

The matches will be played at the home of England rugby on Saturday 13 May.

The games were originally due to be held on Saturday 6 May but were moved after the date for King Charles III's coronation was announced.

The 2023 Army v Navy event will be shown LIVE only with BFBS.

Both the men's and women's match from Twickenham Stadium will be broadcast on the Forces News YouTube channel and on BFBS TV (for serving personnel only) and will be the finale of the 2023 Inter Services Championship.

Tickets are available from the Army v Navy website.
