England rugby legend Jason Robinson wishes UK Armed Forces luck ahead of military world cup

Watch: Jason Robinson's message for UKAF rugby team ahead of their military world cup.

Former England rugby star Jason Robinson has wished the UK Armed Forces (UKAF) rugby side the best of luck ahead of the forces rugby world cup in France.

UKAF will start their International Defence Rugby Competition (IDRC) campaign with games against the military teams of Tonga, Spain and Georgia as they look to improve upon their runners-up finish in the 2019 tournament in Japan.

Robinson, who won the civilian Rugby World Cup as an England player in 2003, posted a good luck message to LinkedIn, the business social media site, to say he hopes the UKAF side can go "one step further" this time around.

Watch: Head inside the UKAF rugby union camp as preparations for the Forces World Cup begin.

Every match featuring the UK team will be shown live on the Forces News YouTube channel including any semi-finals and finals – if they qualify.

Catch-up will be available for each match through BFBS TV (for serving personnel only).

Full coverage details for confirmed UKAF matches are:

  • UK v Tonga – 19 August – 16:45 BST.
  • UK v Georgia – 23 August – 17:45 BST.
  • UK v Spain - August 27 – 14:15 BST.

The Women's IDRC took place last October alongside the Women's Rugby Union World Cup in New Zealand, where the UKAF Women won the Plate tournament
