RAF women fight off spirited Royal Navy challenge to win Inter Services clash

The RAF women's rugby union team are back to winning ways with an Inter Services victory over the Royal Navy.

In a match that showed the Navy's vast improvement since 2019, the Royal Air Force did enough to secure a 32-15 win.

The Navy pushed their opponents all the way and despite the defeat, they will be pleased with their performance heading into the Twickenham tie against the Army.

The RAF raced into an early lead through tries from Nicole Burger, Carys Williams and Rhi Walton but a fantastic Navy fight back provided a welcome surprise.

Jessica Bryan and Sian McLaughlin scored tries that were celebrated wildly on the Navy bench to make it 15-15 in the second half.

It was one of the best performances in Navy women's rugby history but it wasn't enough for the win.

Kirsty O'Brien and Lucy Nye secured the victory with two late tries meaning the Air Force still have a chance of winning the title.
