Trylights: Best of UK at 2019 Forces World Cup
The 2019 International Defence Rugby Competition (IDRC) was the first time the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force joined forces as a UK Armed Forces Rugby team, having competed as separate teams in previous IDRC tournaments.
Held in Japan, UKAF made it all the way to the final after a win in the semi-final over the French, putting them within a whisker of winning the tournament.
But they fell at the final hurdle after an agonising 31-17 defeat to Fiji, where they were unable to stop the power and strength of the Fijian players.
UKAF certainly pulled out some memorable tries during the tournament, however, which helped them to make it all the way to the final.
Airman Rob Bell muscled all of his strength to overcome a strong Georgian defence, pushing them all the way back to the try line to touch down over the line.
Navy full-back Craig Duncan positioned himself just right to back up his teammates before catching the French napping to sprint over the try line for an easy try.
Army player Stu Cross managed to overcome a Fijian pile-on in the final with the help of his UKAF teammates, to sneak in a try for the UKAF team in the IDRC final.
Every match featuring the UK team will be shown live on the Forces News YouTube channel and on catch-up on BFBS TV.
