Exercise Rucksack: Military biathlon athletes descend on Germany for Inter Services and Army championships

Watch: Who won big at the 2024 Inter Services and British Army biathlon championships?

Forces biathlon athletes have been competing in Ruhpolding, Germany, for the Inter Services and British Army Championships â€“ more commonly known as Exercise Rucksack.

The world-renowned Chiemgau Arena provided competitors with a tricky and arduous racing programme including Lieutenant Freya Logan who captained the first-ever women's team in the Royal Armoured Corps.

The Biathlon relay was won by the men's 17 Port and Maritime Regiment RLC team and the women's Royal Artillery team.

The final event was an elimination round that saw 30 athletes, who qualified in the 7.5km sprints earlier in the weekend, whittled down to five finalists.

The men's final saw a spectacular chase to the finish line, with Private Ollie Welsh claiming his second win of the day and, in the women's final, Bombardier Ciara Mitchell proved herself to be the frontrunner throughout.

See action from the competitions and reaction from the athletes in the featured video above.
