US hits milestone in ballistic missile defence test using Aegis Guam System

Watch: Guam's Aegis System intercepts ballistic missile in live missile defence test

In a groundbreaking test of multi-domain warfare, Guam, a vital US military base in the Indo-Pacific, successfully intercepted a ballistic missile using the integrated Aegis Guam System.

The exercise, which combined the AN/TPY-6 radar and the Vertical Launching System, marked the first live tracking and interception of a ballistic missile with this advanced technology.

Its success has seen moves to carry out the ballistic missile flight and tracking test twice a year over the next 10 years to build on integrated air and missile defence capabilities.
