HMS Iron Duke has crowned their Mr Movember after holding a moustache-growing competition to raise awareness for men’s mental health.

Movember is an annual event which sees men grow moustaches to bring attention to men’s health issues.

The crew of the Type 23 frigate spent a month growing out their tashes and got former SAS reservist and celebrity adventurer Bear Grylls to judge the competition.

"HMS Iron Duke, huge respect for your Movember, smashed it," Grylls said.

"What you're doing is so important, raising awareness for men's mental health - something close to all of our hearts.

"Have a great Christmas, you guys are incredible - well done."

The moustache crown was awarded to Leading Chef 'The Hulk' Dennet, who sported a Hulk Hogan-style moustache.

In second place, was Leading Engineering Technician (Weapons Engineer) 'Chaka' Carns, with Leading Engineering Technician (Marine Engineering) 'Mez' Merrington finishing third.

There was also a special mention for Leading Seaman 'Salad' Stallard who raised the most money in support of Movember UK.
