Russian troops seen in video reportedly surrendering from armoured vehicle in Kherson
A video has surfaced showing the moment Russian troops are reported to have surrendered to Ukrainian forces from an armoured fighting vehicle.
The footage shows the vehicle drive into sight with a white flag attached to its turret.
Ukrainian personnel then surround the vehicle before what appears to be Russian troops exit the vehicle and surrender.
The footage was taken in Kherson, a region of the country Ukrainian forces have recently made a series of advances in.
It comes as the Ministry of Defence (MOD) shared an update on Twitter that said the Ukrainian military have started a "new phase of offensive operations".
Watch: How have the Ukrainians gained the upper hand?
The MOD said the offensive has seen Ukrainian forces move south, pushing the frontline back by an additional 20km – but not threatening "the main Russian defensive positions".
It also comes after Russian president Vladimir Putin signed the final papers to annex four regions of Ukraine while his military struggled to control the new territory that was added in violation of international laws.
Kherson is one of those included in Russia's annexation, alongside Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia.
