How Ukrainians are gaining upper hand in fight against Russia

A former advisor to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense believes "rout" is the right word to describe Russian forces around Kherson.

Lieutenant Colonel (Ret'd) Glen Grant has told Forces News he believes the Ukrainians have gained a clear upper hand in the war against Russia.

"They are just falling apart," he said of the Russian aggressors who are, in some areas, making a disorderly retreat.

"Creating stress"

"The Ukrainians have changed their tactics, obviously they've got the bit between their teeth. They're limited by how fast the armour can go because, of course, tanks are expensive on fuel, you can't just drive from A to B easily.

"So what they've been doing is using off-road vehicles... just literally driving as fast as they can into areas and doing something.

"And it's that 'doing something', of course, that is creating the stress in the backlines for the Russians."

He added: "They (the Russians) don't really know what's happening, where people are, whether they're surrounded, whether there are lots of people or whether it is one or two â€“ all they know is their tank's blown up."
