VJ Day: Remembering the war in Asia

In May 1945, millions of people were celebrating VE Day, marking the end of World War Two in Europe.

However, many thousands of Armed Forces personnel were still involved in bitter fighting in the Far East.

Victory Over Japan Day marks the day Japan surrendered, which in effect ended the Second World War.

Seventy-five years on from the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we look at how Japan became involved in the global war and how Britain and its allies fought back.
