VJ Day: Working The Mines

Victory over Japan Day, known as VJ Day, is to be remembered this week, 75 years after Japan's surrender which effectively ended World War II

To mark the day, we've been delving into our archives to resurface fascinating interviews with veterans who served in the Far East during the Second World War.

In 2015, Forces TV spoke to former aircraftman Robert Boocock, who was captured and held prisoner by the Japanese in 1942, before being transported to work in a coal mine in Japan.

This is an edited article first published in 2015.
