Twenty-five years after the deployment of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) to Bosnia, the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) hosted an online conversation between the current and former commanders of the ARRC to mark the event.

Watch 'The Corps In Contemporary Security' below:

The ARRC provided the framework headquarters for the international intervention in Bosnia under the command of then General Michael Walker, now Field Marshal the Lord Walker of Aldringham.

He spoke with the current commander of ARRC, Lieutenant General Sir Edward Smyth-Osbourne, as the formation takes up its role as the first NATO War Fighting Corps to be held at readiness since the end of the Cold War.

They discussed how corps-level operations have evolved in the intervening 25 years, explored the role of the modern corps, and reflected on the lessons of ARRC's previous operational deployments.

The event was chaired by RUSI's Director of Military Sciences, Professor Peter Roberts. Together they compared the challenges facing the corps echelon today and 25 years ago.
