Artillery Regiment Says Farewell to 137 (Java) Battery

Army restructuring has led to a Royal Artillery unit losing one of its five gun batteries, but it has gained another one equipped with multi-launch rocket systems.

At a parade in Germany, 26 Regiment formally said farewell to 137 (Java) Battery, a unit that has been in continuous service with the British Army since the 18th century.

At the same time, the ceremony marked the arrival in the Gunner Regiment of 132 Battery (The Bengal Rocket Troop).

Rob Olver reports from Gutersloh.
