Duchess of Cornwall Visits 4 RIFLES

Soldiers from 4th Battalion, The Rifles in Wiltshire have received a special visit from their Royal Colonel.

4 RIFLES, who are moving to Aldershot in July as part of the Army 2020 restructuring and re-roling as part of 1 Armoured Infantry Brigade, used the opportunity to show off their training and equipment to the Duchess of Cornwall.

Camilla also met the unit's regimental boxing team, families and local schoolchildren.

Lieutenant Colonel Boswell said:

“It has been a huge privilege to have the Duchess here today, she has been so supportive to the battalion over the years, as we have been campaigning in Iraq and Afghanistan. She has been there at every needy hour.

“This is sadly the last time that her Royal Highness will visit us here, so it was quite emotional. We are now getting ready to move to Aldershot in Hampshire. It is a fresh start with plenty of opportunities.”

Shirley Swain reports.
