'The Scarf': Telling The Story Of The First Footballers' Battalion

Ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, a group of students in Scotland have created a piece of drama to honour the fallen.

'The Scarf', by West Calder High School, tells the story of the men who served in the 16th Royal Scots - better known as McCrae's Battalion.

Largely made up of professional and amateur sportsmen, the unit was the first of the so-called 'footballers' battalions' to be raised during the war.
