Explorer and former British Army officer Levison Wood has announced plans to raise awareness for Afghanistan veterans through a new film project.

Mr Levison, who served with the Parachute Regiment and has launched expeditions worldwide, announced on social media that he is looking for actors and backers to support his plan.

"This movie will raise awareness about Afghanistan veterans and provide employment opportunities for ex-servicemen and women joining the creative industries," said Mr Levison.

"This summer I'm going to be shooting a movie, not a documentary, but an actual feature film. It's called The Burn," he said.

"It's all about the veteran's journey.

"It's got lots of different layers to the plot. It's about the war in Afghanistan. It's about music festivals. It's about relationships. It's about love. It's got lots of different layers to this story.

"I'm looking for investors, actors and extras to support my latest creative endeavour all in support of veterans."

The trailer describes the project as a short film which explores the journey of a veteran seeking redemption.

Academy Award-winning actress Rachel Shenton and acclaimed DJ Danny Rampling are also involved in the project.

Mr Levison is encouraging the public to support his plan and attend the Slightly Chilly Man Project where filming will take place on a private island near Edinburgh at the end of July.

A Kickstarter page has been launched for the project which has generated almost £5,000 so far.

"I know many friends and colleagues who have struggled with PTSD, mental health issues, and this film really is a tribute to all of those people," Mr Levison said.

"I've made a number of documentaries, but this will be my first short film.

"I'm going to be offering lots of employment opportunities to veterans.

"A lot of the crew and many of the actors are veterans themselves."
