George 'Johnny' Johnson, Britain's last surviving Dambuster, turns 101

The last surviving British Dambuster from the Second World War raid has celebrated his 101st birthday.
Veteran Squadron Leader George 'Johnny' Johnson MBE, DFM was a bomb-aimer in the Royal Air Force 617 Squadron.
At just 22, he was part of Operation Chastise which targeted the dams in Germany's Ruhr Valley – once burst, the water from the dams flooded the areas used by the Germans for war production.
George 'Johnny' Johnson joined the RAF at just 19 years old in 1940. During his 22 years in the service, the Second World War veteran flew 50 missions.
Tributes have poured in on social media wishing the veteran a happy 101st birthday.
RAF veteran and best-selling author John Nichol, who with TV presenter Carol Vorderman launched a petition in 2017 to grant George 'Johnny' Johnson his MBE, said on Twitter: "I have shared many a glass of red wine with Johnny over the years and you will not find a more decent, humble, honorable Royal Air Force officer.
"Stay well Johnny."
