Getting ready for a coronation – Household Cavalry-style

Watch: What did coronation morning look like for the Household Cavalry Regiment at Hyde Park Barracks?

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment played a key role in the coronation, accompanying the Royal coaches from Buckingham Palace and along The Mall.

With the regiment up at the crack of dawn with three hours to get 171 horses and riders fit for a King, Forces News received behind-the-scenes access to the early-morning preparations at Hyde Park Barracks.

As the video above shows, the horses had to be exercised to get rid of any over-exuberance, with the stress and excitement of the day spreading from rider to noble steed.
