Veteran Brian Wood completes 35th – and final – marathon of gruelling fundraiser
British Army veteran Brian Wood MC has completed the 35th and final marathon of his mammoth marathon-a-day challenge to honour fallen comrades.
It marks the end of his gruelling 'Ultimate Sacrifice Challenge' – so far raising more than £189,000 for a military charity.
Last year, the former serviceman ran 25 marathons in as many days – but he has taken it 10 marathons further to remember fallen servicemen and women this year.

The Army veteran posted on Twitter: "I did it. What a journey of remembrance", along with footage of his final strides and a celebratory Champagne shower.
He has now accomplished his aim for his 2022 challenge of completing 35 marathons in 35 days, carrying the names on his shirts of British lives lost in the Falklands, where he has already covered ground, as well as those from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.
Prior to his final marathon, the Army veteran said: "Well, it's been an emotional, physical and mentally tough journey over the past 35 days.
"Today, I remember the remaining 12 lives who sacrificed everything. Thank you so much for all the support.
"WE WILL REMEMBER THEM," his post added.
The former soldier's gigantic fundraising effort last year saw him raise more than £168,000 for charity. This year he has already raised more than £189,000 and is aiming for £250,000. His fundraising link is here.
