Military-inspired musical Warriors based on lives of three veterans to be shown at Edinburgh Fringe

A new musical written by three military veterans will be performed at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Written by Alex Shannon, Peter McKinlay and Danny Muir, Warriors follows the story of young soldiers embarking on a six-month tour in Afghanistan after recently passing their basic infantry training. The show is based on their experiences.
Warriors will be part of the Army at The Fringe programme taking place at the Hepburn House Reserve Centre this August.
Mr Shannon said: "Even though we might have someone in a uniform as a soldier and serves in all these different theatres or operational environments they still go through the same emotions as everyone else.
"Considering we worked in that exact location to go back full circle and to go back and do a production for Army at The Fringe is poignant for us.
"To have that platform and for the Army to provide that – hopefully this will move on to bigger and better things, but we'll forever champion the Army."
Mr Muir added: "It's about serving soldiers and all the experiences a good go through and mental problems they have and how they overcome them and how they work and through their family."
Army at The Fringe has been a regular part of the Edinburgh Fringe since 2017.
Creative director Harry Ross said: "It gives people a chance to have a look at the British Army in a different light.
"Also, it's the world's largest arts festival and the kind of support and sustainment that we offer is unique.
"Artists come and we have a commissioned programme – they get the opportunity to test their ideas and bring them to market. That's what The Fringe is all about."
The festival takes place at the Hepburn House Army Reserve Centre from 4-27 August.
