Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo: Scottish spectacular thrills crowds Down Under
Since 1950, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has been showcasing international military bands, precision drill teams and cultural performers – all while raising funds for forces charities.
This year's performance traded the biting cold of Scotland for the warmer climes of Brisbane in the Australian state of Queensland, complete with a striking mock-up of the iconic Edinburgh Castle as part of its Heroes Who Made Us 75th anniversary tour.
The theme for this milestone year focuses on celebrating the people, both past and present, who have shaped the event's history, including military personnel, volunteers and community heroes.
Among the 30 musical and cultural groups performing were the bands of the Royal Marines, British Army and Royal Navy, their counterparts from the Australian Defence Force, His Majesty the King of Norway's Guard Band and Drill Team, and the Japan Air Self-Defence Force Central Band.
Making its return to Australia for the first time since 2019, this year's performance also marked its Brisbane debut.
Now, the cast and crew are packing up their kilts and instruments, preparing to move to New Zealand, giving the Kiwis the opportunity to witness this world-renowned spectacle too.
