335 Medical Evacuation Regiment Put Their Skills To The Test

Regulars and reservists have been working alongside each other on a two-week training package.

It’s designed to improve the military skills of the reservists from 335 Medical Evacuation regiment. And impart essential NHS clinical skills to 1 Armoured Medical Regiment.

The point of the display itself is to highlight what’s known as the patient pathway. This is the journey from point of injury to final evacuation.

It allowed newer members of the regiments to experience all the stages of treatment.

335 is nationally recruited from specialists across the NHS.

Despite that experience with all kinds of medical issues, the battlefield scenario is a big change from the well-equipped hospitals they normally work in.

Lance Corporal Jake Harrison, 1 Armoured Medical Regiment, spoke about one of the key elements of the exercise:

“The MRS ensures that every part of the patient has been treated and that they’ve been stabilised prior to evacuation.”

As well as learning essential ‘green’ skills, the NHS clinicians taught several courses.
