All Aboard! Cadets Visit 'Cheery Chid’ To Learn About Minehunters

Officer Cadets boarded HMS Chiddingfold as the Royal Navy minehunter sailed into Dartmouth for a two-day stay.

The cadets, who are undergoing training at Britannia Royal Naval College, had a chance to hear about the Hunt-class minehunters and the role they play in operational capability.

They were also taken around the ship and shown some of the equipment used by its clearance divers.

HMS Chiddingfold is one of eight ships in the 2nd Mine Countermeasures Squadron. Her last deployment saw the ship spend three years in the Gulf.

Since September 2017, Chiddingfold has been exercising along the South coast of England at her home base in Portsmouth.

The ships' company will continue working on their seamanship skills before they get ready to deploy back to Bahrain.
