Army Barracks 'Without Hot Water In Middle Of The Day'

Soldiers at a British Army base are currently living without access to hot water for part of the day.

Keogh Barracks in Aldershot, which houses more than 100 troops, underwent a £50 million refurbishment three years ago.

The Ministry of Defence has told Forces News that due to a fault a temporary arrangement has been put in place which has resulted in people not having hot water during the middle of the day.

“Under this temporary arrangement, all personnel have reliable access to hot water in the mornings and evenings.

"The fault is expected to be repaired by the end of the month before a £1.5M upgrade to the heating system is put in place in 2019."

Defence Minister Tobias Ellwood told a Defence Select Committee hearing yesterday that the Ministry of Defence needs more money to ensure personnel and their properties are "looked after".

In 2017, an Armed Forces Continuous Attitude Survey found that 49 per cent of those surveyed were satisfied with standard of service accommodation.
