Behind-the-scenes with Met Office experts advising operations at RAF Akrotiri

After record breaking temperatures in Cyprus over the last two years, the work of a team of meteorological experts from the Met Office based at RAF Akrotiri is more important than ever.

RAF Akrotiri is home to multi million pound aircraft and, whatever the weather, each base needs to know when it's safe to work and when it's too dangerous to start a mission.

Met office experts at the Cyprus base provide advice 24 hours a day on weather conditions for personnel and are responsible for issuing warnings when those conditions could majorly affect operations.
