British Troops Deploy To Iraq In Fight Against So-Called Islamic State

British soldiers are on their way to Iraq to be part of the US protection force in Operation Shader.

3 SCOTS will help provide security for US troops at Al-Asad Airfield in Iraq and also help train local Iraqi forces.

It’s one of the first times the US has given a foreign unit such a role.

3 SCOTS have put months of hard training to prepare for their role in Op Shadar.

The job entrusted to them means nothing has been left to chance.

They’ve been brushing up their skills with live firing training to make sure they’re ready for the challenge ahead.

But now it’s time to test those skills out in the Middle East, as the soldiers from 3 SCOTS set off on the long journey from their base in the Highlands to the deserts of Iraq.
