British Troops Awarded For Peacekeeping Work In South Sudan
A medal parade has been held to honour British soldiers for their efforts during a peacekeeping mission in South Sudan.
Soldiers from 39 Engineering Regiment have returned home after taking part in Operation Trenton - a United Nations operation - since November last year.
During the last ten months, they helped to build a new hospital, power generators and water pipes to combat the effects of flooding.
South Sudan has been gripped by civil war since 2013 after declaring independence from Sudan.
Members of 39 Engineering Regiment were part of a deployment of around 400 British troops to protect the civilian population and provide stability in the region.
The work carried out by these soldiers has helped provide vital infrastructure to the ongoing UN mission in war-torn South Sudan.
