British Troops In Kabul Raise Money For Injured Afghans

British forces based in Kabul, Afghanistan, are working up a sweat to raise money for injured members of the Afghan Security Forces.
Troops are running, rowing and cycling 290.56 miles – the distance from Helmand to Kabul – to raise $25,000.
The money raised will fund the care of injured Afghan forces by:
- Putting funds into hospitals in Kabul
- Helping the injured and maimed soldiers on the rehabilitation programme
- Buying specific rehab equipment

The money will also go towards the cost of sending an Afghan team to the next Invictus Games in Sydney.
Sergeant Major Chris Campbell, Royal Military Police, said: “What we ideally would like to do is make sure we can utilise our funding to better help the people that are stuck in hospitals.
"Some have been stuck there for over a year and a half with no legs because they’ve got no family.
"What we want to do is try and make their time in hospital that little bit more comfortable.”

The challenge was organised by a project called Afghanistan Injured or Maimed (AIM), a project which was set up last year to help send the Afghan Invictus Games team to Toronto.
The AIM Project hopes to become a charity in the future like the UK's Help for Heroes or USA's Wounded Warrior.
