China And India Seek To Ease Tensions in Border Dispute

China and India have agreed to improve communication between their armed forces to avoid an escalation in a border dispute. The nuclear-armed rivals have been contesting a remote region along the border with the Himalayas.

Tensions reached a high last year when troops from both sides were involved in a months-long standoff over territory near Bhutan.

During a two-day meeting in China’s central city of Wuhan, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi agreed to coordinate more closely to maintain stability between two of the biggest countries in Asia.
