COVID: US Healthcare Workers Vaccinated At RAF Lakenheath

COVID-19 vaccinations are being given to US healthcare workers at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk.
Although a Royal Air Force station, Lakenheath hosts United States Air Force units and personnel.
The first jabs at the site were carried out in late December and were administered by the 48th Medical Group.
Initial vaccinations are being limited to healthcare workers and first responders, according to the US Department of Defense.
48th Fighter Wing commander, Colonel Jason Camilletti said: “The health of our force, families, and communities always remains a top priority.
“This vaccine is an important part of the way forward as we continue to care for the communities where we live and work.”
As the vaccine is rolled out across the site, all US Department of Defense personnel will continue to wear appropriate masks, practice social distancing, wash hands, follow restrictions of movement and adhere to host nation restrictions for the safety of their communities, commanders say.

Colonel Thomas Stamp, 48th Medical Group commander, said: “At the Medical Group, we are excited and honoured to be a part of the roll out of this historic vaccination programme.
“We have full confidence in the safety and efficacy of the vaccine and are eager to do our part to bring the COVID-19 pandemic to an end.”
