Dad Attempts To Climb Derby's Cathedral 20 Times In One Day For Charity

Dean Hanley and his two friends Tim Cox and Simon Barcz have set themselves the challenge of climbing Derby Cathedrals narrow staircase 20 times in one day to raise money for children who have lost their parents in the British Armed Forces.
The children's military charity Scotty's Little Soldiers was set up in 2010 by Nikki Scott. Her husband and father of her two children, Corporal Lee Scott, was killed in Afghanistan in 2009.
Dean first learned about the charity whilst working in a hospital for rehabilitating soldiers and is from a military family, his father having served in the Armed Forces, and seeing the charity on TV. He and his wife Maggie decided they had to help!
Dean said:
"The Cathedral Climb is something totally different. I've done challenging walks before but can't wait to try this climb. The locality of it means the community can come down and support Tim, Simon and myself. On the day, there will be an auction and a bucket collection so we'd like to see as many people as possible turn out to raise money for Scotty's Little Soldiers, an amazing cause."
