EATS: New dining scheme flexes healthy eating to Army schedule

A new pilot scheme has seen new EATS dining hubs established on six military sites, addressing a lack of flexibility seen in previous canteens.

The idea is to provide healthy courses over a wider range of hours, offering meals for click and collect on a mobile app.

Dining halls would often close before soldiers had finished their day, prompting troops to order unhealthy takeaways.

The EATS dining scheme is being trialled for 10 months, before a review will determine whether it is financially viable to extend the service across the country.
