Fake Guns Stolen From Army Cadet Hall

Police tape

Imitation assault rifles have been stolen from an Army Cadet Hall in Newport-on-Tay, Fife.

Three fake SA80 rifles used for training were taken during a break-in to the hall, along with some cash.

They do not function as firearms but are designed to have the exact appearance of SA80 rifles.

The break-in took place between 12 noon on Wednesday May 2 and 11am on Wednesday May 9 at the property in the Victoria Street area.

Detective Inspector Chris Mill said:

"We are treating this incident with the utmost priority and have a dedicated team working to establish the whereabouts of the equipment."

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen, or been offered, any of the equipment, or can help us trace their whereabouts.

"I would specifically appeal to anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the Victoria Street area over the course of the week or who has any information that can help us trace those responsible."

An Army spokesman said the service is aware of the theft and "any further queries should be directed to the police".
