'Falklands Would Be At Risk Under Jeremy Corbyn'

The Falkland Islands will be at risk should Jeremy Corbyn become Prime Minister, because of his opposition to Britain's war with Argentina, veterans of the conflict have said.
Major-General Julian Thompson, commander of 3 Commando Brigade during the war, said the idea of Mr Corbyn leading the country filled him with "horror", according to The Times.
He told the newspaper:
"I felt irritated, to put it mildly."
"I am worried at the thought of that guy being in charge. It is very worrying because he could do some deal with Argentina."
The Labour leader was against the Falklands war at the time and has suggested he would be interested in a power-sharing agreement over the islands.
Simon Weston, a Welsh Guardsman who suffered burns when his ship was bombed by Argentine jets, said Mr Corbyn's comments make him "balk".
He told The Times:
"I feel rather queasy. He is historically, geographically and every other aspect of wrong in every point he makes."
Ian Hansen, chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Falkland Islands, said:
"I personally know what it was like to be locked up at gunpoint for 30 days so to say it wasn’t a just war, how anybody could say that is beyond me."
During the conflict 225 British personnel were killed.
