Call of Duty: WWII

Two Armed Forces charities have been announced as the first British winners of an award launched by the makers of the 'Call of Duty' computer game franchise.

The Call of Duty Endowment: Seal of Distinction Awards have recognised RFEA: The Forces Employment Charity, and Walking With the Wounded and each awarded a $30,000 grant - the equivalent of over £40,000 between the two.

They will also have the opportunity to gain additional funding and support from the endowment.

Stephen Gledhill, RFEA CEO, expressed his delight at being one of the awards’ recipients:

“We’re delighted to be one of the first recipients of The Call of Duty Endowment in the UK.

"RFEA supported 20,000 ex-forces personnel last year, providing tailored employment advice and helping them find work suited to the skills and experience of a military career.

The war-based gaming series launched the fund in the US in 2009 and has so far says it has placed more than 37,000 US veterans into full-time jobs, with an average starting salary of £42,000.
