Forces Children Brush Up On Soldiering Skills
Soldiers from 1 Armoured Medical Regiment based in Sennelager have been teaching much smaller soldiers than usual this week, as they spent a day teaching children some soldiering skills.
For many Forces Families, seeing people in uniform is just a part of day to day life.
But do children really know what mum or dad do once they leave for work in the morning?
One group of children in Germany got to experience a little of what happens when their parent goes on exercise, thanks to soldiers from 1 Armoured Medical Regiment.
With morning lessons ‘in the field’ they were taught methods of moving around the area, as well as camouflage and concealment techniques, before getting a chance to try them out for themselves.
As well as camouflage and concealment, some of the children were seeing ordnance survey maps for the first time, and learning how to find and use grid references for a given location.
The lessons finished with working the radios to pass very important military messages.
