'Forgotten' War Veteran Receives Hundreds Of Christmas Cards
A Second World War veteran has received hundreds of Christmas cards from around the world, all to make him smile.
Harry Winter served in the RAF, he had said that in recent times he had:
“Felt we had been forgotten,”
A concerned friend of Harry’s, and fellow former Royal Marine, decided to post a request on social media for Christmas cards to be sent to the veteran.
The request has attracted huge attention since it was first posted. Harry and wife Jo have received 381 cards to date, with two posting days still to go before Christmas.

The bundles of cards have been sent by serving and ex-military personnel, members of the public wising to say thank you, as well as a significant number of school children.
One message for a school child reads:
“Thank you for fighting the war, you deserve an amazing Christmas, that’s what you’re going to get…Lewis from St. Stephens.”

Overwhelmed by the response from total strangers, Harry now feels anything but forgotten:
“After receiving bundles of messages it’s shocked me that the duties I did 74 years ago are adequately being rewarded by the younger generation of today.”
The only problem now is that Harry and Jo are struggling to fit all the Christmas cards in their living room!
