Former Soldier Threatened To Stab And Burn Girls Aloud Star

Nicola Roberts

Former soldier and ex-boyfriend of Girls Aloud star, Nicola Roberts, has been given a lifetime restraining order by a judge after threatening to stab and burn her.

Carl Davies sent the singer threatening messages via social media after setting up 35 fake accounts.

The thousands of messages were sent via Twitter and Instagram, containing both the knife and fire emojis.

Although Nicola did not reply to any of the messages, she kept copies of the correspondence.

The pair were together for 18 months but parted ways in 2008.

The messages starting appearing on the star's social media accounts in 2012 and continued appearing until February this year when Davies was arrested and remanded to prison until the case could be heard in court.

In Nicola's victim impact statement, which was read to Judge Jonathan Black, she said:

"The messages he sent reminded me of all the terrible things that happened when we were together,"

During the case, Judge Black highlighted that Davies probation report showed that he suffered from PTSD.

"Now that the PTSD has been diagnosed you will be aware of what caused you to act in this way, and you will be able to properly respond to those issues."

Davies admitted one count of stalking and another count of persistent use of public communication networks to cause annoyance or inconvenience and was handed a 15-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, which meant he would be immediately released from jail.

He was also given a lifetime restraining order not to contact the singer, or go within 250 metres of her or her family.
