Green Party Manifesto Pledges To Scrap Trident Replacement

The Green Party have said they will scrap the Trident renewal if they get into government.
In their manifesto, which was officially launched in London today, they promised to create "a safe Britain" and "work for a caring confident Britain that uses its influence wisely".
Their key pledges on defence are:

The manifesto says that not replacing the UK's current nuclear deterrent would 'save more than £100bn over the next three decades'.
It also promised an end to support for "aggressive wars of intervention" and a reduction in arms sales to "oppressive regimes".
It is all part of what it calls an "ethical foreign policy" with a capacity for conflict resolution.
Addressing media at a launch event in central London, Caroline Lucas, the Green Party leader, said that "the Green Guarantee is about hope".
"I can't remember a time in my own lifetime where the future has felt more uncertain - with Brexit, with accelerating climate change, with an NHS in crisis."
"We face challenges that we can't possibly pretend to fix in the next 100 days, or the next 1,000.
"Threats to our economic future, threats to our security, threats to our planet."
"But ours is a message of hope because we believe if we stand together for what matters, we can change the course of history."
