The Ministry of Defence and the Royal College of Art have unveiled a potential future British Army uniform.

The uniform, which was put on display at this year's DSEI event in London, is designed to be easy to run in, well-fitted to the body and comfortable to wear.

The kit is designed for combat, with the MoD saying it includes cutting-edge fabrics, such as "phase-changing material", as well as enhanced body armour and communication systems.

The Minister for Defence Procurement Harriett Baldwin said:

"From new materials to high-tech helmets, innovation is all about giving our personnel the kit they need by working with world-famous partners like the Royal College of Art.

"You might not expect the MOD to work with an art and design university, but it is this kind of non-traditional partnership which will keep our Armed Forces equipped with cutting-edge technology."
